Weird Issue With Video Playback

Hi, hoping you can help. Whenever playing back a video, if I put any of the resolution settings above 2160p, the video pretty much stops working. It lags super bad and little black dots show up all over the image, distorting the video. Any idea why this is happening? My setup is as follows:

Oculus Rift
GTX 1080
16Gb RAM
i7-4770

My PC should for sure be good enough to handle 4k, but the second I turn it on it just breaks.

Hey northernnord,

I had a similar issue to yours. I couldn't play any video's with a resolution >1920p.
They would play fine at 1920p but the moment I'd raise the resolution the video would crash and I wouldn't be able to play ANY other video until I restarted the app, loaded a video and immediatelly lowered the resolution back down before it would crash again.

I've found this (installing HEVC extension) to fix the issue in my case and I can now play back any resolution video, possibly it might solve your issue too?:
