  • Please bring old UI back

It had not only a way better menu navigation (option menu was a seperate tab, so we had control for playback and options at the same time and shows what vales where changed by how much...)
it also was WAY FASTER.

Skipping throught a local stored 7k or 8k vr vid, is payne now.
It now takes nearly 3sek to get playback again after skipping throught vids (time seems to slightly depend on resolution and/or decoder settings)...

Never had this with old UI nor with DeoVR (which should be the same as older slr app version)
Skipping throught got me instant playback...
but now... don't know what you guys changed, but it's very very slow now.

Since old UI is still in there (used for vr cam girl section) please give us on option to select old UI as standart.
A simple switch in the player settings should be fine.
I mean it's still in there, so should be easy to switch over...

Or even a option to rollback to older app version (before new UI) will be fine.
But don't know how this will work, because stup... auto updates!

Before it was such a good / intuitve and fast app... no need for these changes!
So please make the slr app GREAT AGAIN

I agree with this. I prefer the old UI's playback options too. I toggle the playback speed and zoom quite often. It was one of my favorite things about Deo/SLR. It was right there, front and center.

Now, every time I want to make an adjustment, I have to click to a secondary menu. It's not optimal, and my boner loses precious seconds while I fumble around =)

SLR: Please revise the way playback speed, and zoom are handled. Please put it back to the main / first menu.

    Thanks!

doublevr Does the design team actually use the app themselves? Every time there's a UI change I can tell you beforehand what the complaints are going to be. (Speaking as a user of the app)

Rakly3 We had multiple debates over it.

We can't stop the innovation from prohibiting to change things. I believe we can work things out on that. Any suggestions that help us to get the point are really appreciated.

My strongest argument in favor of design is that everything could be programmed with controllers.

          Rakly3
Honestly that is just human nature, humans just don´t like to adjust to new things ans want to keep everything as they are used to.

Although I have to say, many things of the new UI are just objectively worse, if you need more steps to achieve the same thing you need to justify with some gains elsewhere, like getting a simpler less cluttered UI.
But the new UI is actually worse in all ends, some things are hidden behind several steps, and instead of making it simpler and less cluttered in the front it actually is way cluttered and so big you can not even recognize everything at first glance, so in the end we got it worse on all ends.

doublevr Otherwise feel free to program your controller

I actually wasn't aware I could do this! I will try this tonight and report back.

I will say I think the chapter points for all the diff positions (cowgirl, doggy, etc) is REALLY slick.

I don't want to get too off topic, but is there any way that you can incorporate the screenshots (trickplay) when hovering the playhead over the timeline for offline downloads as well? When I stream via SLR, I like how it shows the preview image.

doublevr My strongest argument in favor of design is that everything could be programmed with controllers.

This is similar to using hotkeys on a keyboard vs clicking buttons on a UI with a mouse. Hotkeys are way more efficient if you've bothered to learn the mappings but there will always be a huge number of people that don't use them and prefer to click buttons instead.

g2kbuffetboy I will say I think the chapter points for all the diff positions (cowgirl, doggy, etc) is REALLY slick.

I can think of a combos to get the best view for some positions I guess. We can have those in presets and activate with a button or controller mapping. Let me think about it.

I don't see any features coming for the local playback as it's a hell of work and most don't even appreciate it.

              Howdy friend. =)

Okay, so I tried mapping the playback speed adjustments last night to my Xbox controller (I use SLR app on PC), There are two issues with this:

              1. The playback speed does not change by 25/50/75% increments like before. It changes as much as decimal points and not by increments but by the length of time (in milliseconds) the button is depressed. It's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get it back to 100%. And there is no reset button. Say I want to see just a few parts in slow mo, and then I want to revert back to normal playback. At this point, I still have to open up the secondary menu, change the playback speed, go back to the normal menu and then continue on. It's very frustrating.
              2. The control mapping does not work in local playback mode. When pressing the same buttons on the controller that I programmed, nothing happens...

In other words, I'm still SOL =(

most just complain about the bad handling with new ui (and that's absolut true)... but how about performance... ?!?
did really nobody notice the absolute poor performance we get since new ui was released...
switching to deovr (V 10.3) fixed all these problems for me...
runs like a charm with deovr...

i can understand the ui changes and that there may be functions introduced in future updates, old ui would'nd be able to handle...
so ok, give new ui a try (but please as option not as default)

BUT why we get that poor performance ??? from just a ui change

bl00dymary I haven't noticed any difference in performance, what specifically are you talking about?

Like i wrote in my 1 post...

Skipping throught a local stored vid, is very slow (delayed) now.
It now takes nearly 3sek to get playback again after randomly skipping throught vids.

Never had this with old UI nor with DeoVR
Skipping throught got me instant (no delay) playback...

Just test a couple of 7k/8k vids...

Rakly3 of course not 😂 No one that actually uses the site on their phone had anything to do with the mobile version of the site - app is the same way. It’s probably all outsourced anyhow.

yes, thats exactly what i try to have the app/design team a look at...
the new ui's LAG is more bothering than it's new look....

so PLEASE DESIGNTEAM have a look at this

                  Hey blaze466
Info the round button left of the player. Should include some pictures too now 🙂
Playlists you have on the right.

Thanks for all your reply guys. Due to small team and unity limitations we can't always push things through how we want them to. The player is not in it's final stage and there will be more updates in the following weeks/months.

We'll make sure easier access to playback/zoom is on top of that list

[deleted] Then roll back to the previous version until the existing player is "finished". I work in software, specifically Senior UI/UX and this is literally hot garbage you put out. You took usability down like 5 notches. This feels like "changing things for the sake of changing things" instead of quality improvement. I mean even if you don't think about the options changes, it's still now twice as big as it needs to be (ratio-wise). Do the RIGHT thing and revert your code, and wait to push the UI updates when it's more fleshed out "in the following months". Like I get that some butthurt product owner might fight against reverting because they like seeing progress happen, but that's for their ego not the customers sake. The customer's are making it clear that you make a horrific UI change. Just tested again, if i'm looking downward at all, and need to seek, i now either have to reposition the UI where I can't see the video behind it, or dig my chin into my chest to reach the seek bar.
