  • Script Request Voting system/stratifying interest to reward consumer engagement

Given the increasing popularity of the script sector of SLR and the seemingly endless posting of video links to the request forum thread (given how easy it is to copy/paste spam and forget about it), it feels like the list is obnoxiously WAY too long/untethered to the actual releases occurring. (Caveat: I am speaking about customer requests and not the planned scripts that come out with new upcoming videos/scheduled releases etc)

I have a request that I think would help to reward engagement/involve active consumers in determining which scripts enter the pipeline.

Would a consumer voting system be possible for which videos are to be scripted next? Either as a forum feature or more realistically as a discord poll?

^ ie collating recent script requests into an easy to interact poll format to help filter out copy/paste spamming and actually reward community interest. Even restricting script requests specifically to the discord would inherently filter interest effectively/boost engagement/create a manageable volume to collate into voting polls.

Please let me know if this is possible. Given the response to my request in another thread that there be an 'upcoming notification banner' for the script page of SLR (@FreyaSLR ), it seems as though this direction is the next logical step.

Continued gratitude to @RealcumberScripts for everything he does for this sector of SLR!!

If anyone in the community agrees with this idea, please like/comment on this post so the SLR team can see the community interest. Thank you!!

bamjus FYI, there's a Discord channel where people chip in and sponsor scripts with $5 or $10 each until there is enough money to tempt a scripter--in other words, voting with $$$. I would guesstimate that about 30 to 40 percent of the scripts on SLR got life that way. Maybe more. Perhaps @RealcumberScripts knows how to send you an invitation. I don't know how to do that.

mebejoe ahh...ok sorry i had no idea this existed lmao, thanks for the information!!!

true around half of the scripts i made where funded this way, I made at least three scripts that where "requested" that i would've never done without it, and a couple that i would've done eventually but not at that moment. It is a real good motivation for starting a scene.

maybe they could do something similar here. A bit like a kickstarter where people can invest tokens for a script to be made, and if the request hasnt been picked within x amount of months the request will be canceled and the tokens returned.

Would love SLR to implement a crowdfunding/bounty feature to unscripted videos.
Where users could pay in advance into a "pot" for a video to be scripted, then a scripter could accept the work.

I've funded a tonne of scripts on the Discord, always wanted to be able to do it through SLR 😀

mebejoe So, I belong to that discord, and fund a bunch of scripts. Even so, I support the idea of a voting system here on SLR. The scripters I have spoken to say that when they choose to script something, They often think about the revenue that said script will generate for them on SLR, as well as what people are donating. So, as the customer service folks around here have also pointed out, some indication of the demand for the script here on SLR would also help get it done.

Further, although I love those scripters and know they work very hard to produce fabulous quality here, it does sometimes feel a little unfair to know that I pay for a script sub here, and a script pops up that all the other subs get to download as part of their package, but I know that a big part of the reason that they get to do that is because I paid a scripter 50, 75, or 100 dollars to make that one script happen (in addition to others, obviously). They are worth every penny, but just like they don't want to be shortchanged for their work, neither do I want to carry a lot of the burden for getting them done. The discord is nice, but frankly, there are perhaps a dozen or less members that actually contribute to script funding regularly.

Having script pooling or voting here might get a broader base of support going for the scripters and spread the cost around a bit better.

withy -- Yes and yes -- please excuse me if I sounded like I was dumping on the idea of voting for scripts.

I feel your pain--There are probably a dozen scripts on here that I funded 100% and at least that many more that I've contributed to. And before they had the option of a subscription for scripts, I had to pay for them twice if I didn't want to download the video.

So, I'm all in favor of a voting system. And if somebody wants to shortcut the process, there's that Discord channel.

SCRIPT VOTING BUTTON IS FINALLY HERE!

How do we get an invite to the channel please?
