  • SLR won't play locally saved videos, downloaded from SLR site.

Hey guys, pretty much the post. I just joined premium and can stream vids no problem.

However I've tried downloading vids from the SLR website and they won't play in the app.... they all just have sound, no image in the SLR app. I've tried a couple of different vids, 4k and 6k versions, h.264 & h.265 (I have the h.265 codec installed). I can ply them all as SBS in VLC media player on the monitor....

I'm running a Valve Index on PC (GTX 2080ti).

What am I missing here?

Thank you.

gingaskunk I previously used an Index with a 2080 as well, and you should definitely have no issue with that setup.

Have you tried using a different free app to play downloaded scenes? Just to see if it's an issue with the SLR app or whether it may be an issue with which codecs you have downloaded.

For example if you download Play'a/Gizmo/etc from Steam to use w/ SteamVR, are you able to play the scenes? If yes- then the original issue was with the SLR app. If no- it could be a codec issue on your PC.

    Okay just tested on GizmoVR. All three movies I kept (h.254 @ 4k, h.265 @ 4k & h.264 @ 6k) seemed to work fine....

    Any indeas?

gingaskunk Right click the video and Open with > Movies & TV.
If it doesn't play correctly, it's a codec issue.
Or there could be a Windows update pending to finish.

      Nope, no go.

Videos play fine in Movies & TV.

      No updates pending in Windows.

I just deleted the SLR app, restarted the machine and reinstalled.

Still no good. Any other thoughts?

When uninstalling, also remove any leftover traces.

        • Uninstall DeoVR/SLR.
        • Press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard and run Regedit.exe.
        • Locate and delete:
(You can simply copy and paste the line into the regedit address bar.)
          • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Deo VR
          • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SLR
          • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SLR VR Application
        • Open a file explorer window and in the addressbar copy-paste the folowing line and press enter.
          • %appdata%/../LocalLow
          • Here you should be able to find an SLR and/or Deo VR folder. Delete these.
        • Reboot system
        • Since you're using an Index I'll assume you are using SteamVR.
Install DeoVR from the Steam Store (free)

That fixed it, thanks. I didn't have any local keys (I assume they were removed during uninstall). I did remove local data, reboot and install DEOVR first.

I don't know whether the fix was removing local data or the installation of DEOVR (which I had never had before), but thanks!
