I can tell you that if I don't use a VPN I get like 3-5 MB/s download, versus like 25-30MB/s with my VPN active. And that I've personally downloaded easily 100+ GB's worth of scenes in the past week with no speed issues, so it's not just that the site is slow across-the-board for everyone.
