When i download a video with the downloads option for my oculus quest 2 locally it wont play on playavr. The videos also dont load a thumbnail like any other video. They are an mp4, and playavr supports mp4's. Whats wrong with them?

PS: I recognize my GPU needs to support H.265, and my 1080ti does.

Rakly3 With the sites download functionality. And like i said, quest 2, computer through playavr. Not sure what other info you need.

Oh and the videos will play in VLC, but obviously that isnt in VR, it just shows the side by side 2d video.

I wonder if it could be this...on this site https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_NVDEC it says my 1080 ti supports H.265 HEVC 4:2:0 but not 4:4:4, could that be it? Although SLRs site says the 10 series supports it, and im not sure if the SLR app does something different, but it works fine in the SLR app.

Thorguard I wasn't entirely sure, but if they play in VLC it probably not a download issue.

Normally we don't do support for software other than SLR (DeoVR is fine too), but you might be missing codecs. I also don't know which formats and resolutions Playa supports.

K-Lite comes with LAV included and a whole bunch of bells and whistles. The Mediainfo tool that comes with it is very useful to find out all the data about a video. Our SLR-encoded videos should all be 4:2:0 8-bit.

If it still doesn't work I will have to refer you to Playa's support. I have no personal experience with it either.

Ok ill try the codecs. And if you dont know about playa, then do you know of another program i can use to play videos locally? DeoVR you know to work? My internet tends to go down once or twice a month, so being able to play locally is good.

      Thanks

Thorguard Yes DeoVR works, but only with a VR headset. You can get it on Steam and Oculus. Free.

So AFTER I bought their HEVC codec it now tells me "It looks like you don’t have any applicable device(s) linked to your Microsoft account. To install, sign in on a device with your Microsoft account."

Whats wrong with this? The 1080 Ti is supported.

Edit: Rather than just deleting this post i'll update it in case it can help anyone else. While it wouldnt install from the browser, when i signed in through the microsoft store app within windows 10 it then installed. And yes now its working in playavr (and wow, decoding takes 50-60% of my 1080 ti).

        Thanks for your help.
