Yo, i just downloaded the slr app and choose cardboard, remote works fine!
I don't know a solution and can't replicate it. I forwarded it to the devs but nothing so far. DeoVR v9.7 got released today though. Maybe, hopefully that fixes it.
Also, just in case, the cardboard and gearvr apps are not the same thing.
Rakly3 welp, i just tried deo cardboard style, controller works now, tried on my gear as well and works good

Rakly3 Also, just in case, the cardboard and gearvr apps are not the same thing.
How so?
I use to use slr app on my gear but of course it no longer works.
I downloaded the slr but choose cardboard instead of gear and i can cardboard it to my gearvr headset, looks the same, streams the same, but its kinda jittery a lil. But over all looks the same.
If i could get the miner jitter to stop this would be great for phone users. Also my phone plays 8k on slr, another plus
Also if the slr app will never work for gear, shouldnt the gear download option be taking off?
I tried it for gear and it still dont work. Not complaining...im just saying
Edit: by jitter i mean like...when im moving my head the menu has this movement, the videos stream fine, but its the same when i move my head the screen kinda moves too.
Vrsumo2017 i have a gearvr also i tried reinstalling the app but to no avail, the controller just does nothing idk what happened...
Vrsumo2017 i too downloaded the slr app but it still didnt work
Rakly3 maybe the update caused it?
You try unpairing the controller and pair it again? My remote working now.

stripes12345 no gear vr remote? Thats what i normally use.

Vrsumo2017 How so?
GearVR and Cardboard are not the same system. Sure your Phone can use them both, but you can't use the GearVR app install with Cardbord and vice versa. (see next quote reply)
Our GearVR/OculusGo app also is v8.53 and Cardboard v9.x
The GearVR/OGo version of the app does no longer get updates as it can't run the v9.x version.
Also if the slr app will never work for gear
I didn't say that. The SLR app v8.53 doesn't stop working because we have v9.x; Oculus/Facebook is just no longer updating the software for GearVR/OGo so it will never be compatible with our current version.
You can use the Cardboard version with your GearVR headset, but it won't use the dedicated hardware that's in the headset. Only your phone. It at this point is basically just a box that holds your phone.
Edit: by jitter i mean like...when im moving my head the menu has this movement, the videos stream fine, but its the same when i move my head the screen kinda moves too.
This could be a result of the Cardboard version not using the dedicated hardware that's built in the GearVR headset. But I'm just guessing here. I personally don't have a GearVR because it didn't make much sense getting me one knowing the GearVR at that time already was abandoned by Samsung and Oculus/Facebook would stop updating it.
To install the GearVR/OGo 8.53 version you must get it from the Oculus app store, not Google Play store. Your controller should work again with this version.

well i guess ill stop using deovr, thanks for all the help anyways
Update - ok so i reverted back to android 10 and the controller started working, turns out android 11 was the problem. go figure. i read online that the controller issue on android 11 is pretty common and one of the fixes is to turn off accessibilty settings, this wasnt the problem in my case as i had no settings on. there is something in the android 11 software that causes this issue idk if its with all devices running android 11 but it does happen with some.
stripes12345 Thanks for letting us know!! There seem to be a bunch of issues that pop up with Android 11, but there's no pattern in it that I can see. Some people have no issues, others can't get it to work. Since this is also the case with iOS14, I'm guessing it has to do with Google Cardboard (iOS uses it too)
