Ordered a Q2, how noticeable in quality are certain size download files?

I've had GearVR/S9+ but recently upgraded my phone without realizing the new Samsungs can't use GearVR. I ordered a Quest 2.

I haven't been a member for about a year now but just signed up again and I'm starting to download some scenes.

Can you tell a big difference in quality from the Quest 1 file instead of the Quest 2?

Also, on the Quest 2 files it gives multiple options (ex. 6gb, 17gb, 20gb) is the difference really that noticeable to need to download a filesize sometimes 3x bigger?

I'm traveling right now and don't have a great connection, I'm wanting to get as much downloaded before I get back home since I have a data limit at home / slow connection. I don't want to sacrifice a major quality shift if there is a huge difference.

My plan is to download the Quest 1 files, is that 'good enough?'

steakwizard Yes, there will definitely be a very noticeable difference in visual quality between the two.

For example- with the most recent SLR Original scene (Welcome Party w/ a Bang), the Quest 1 version of the scene is 4k resolution at 4.18GB, wheres the Quest 2 version is 6k at 12.35GB. Bigger files with a higher resolution and bitrate will virtually always be the better bet as far as visual quality.

That being said- if you're just trying to fit as many scenes as you can onto your Quest 2's limited storage, or if you're in a rush and can't wait for slow internet speeds to download larger files, it just comes down to whether you're willing to trade off visual quality for a higher quantity of lower quality files. For me personally, I would much rather have a handful of fantastic visual quality scenes versus a bunch of mediocre quality ones.

Quest2 is much better than Q1 or GearVR.

You are up to 6K max resolution files.
