  • 8K videos are amazing!

The Reverb G2 has a great picture, by far the best. Combined with the new cameras, no one will return to flat screen viewing.

Lonkilan Does the G2 do a better job with deep blacks and god rays compared to the Quest 2? My experience with the Quest 2 is that the loss of true blacks from the lower-res, OLED Quest 1 is a substantial trade-off for the higher resolution and mostly lack of screen door effect. If you had a Quest 2, would you spend the money to upgrade to a G2 and a gaming pc (assuming you didn't already have one)?

Since it was mentioned that lens quality is an important factor in overall video quality, is there or will there be any indication for the consumers as to what quality of lenses were shot with each respective video?
Or is there a 'publisher recommended file type' somewhere in the 'about' tab on the videos? Or could there be, if not now?
Or is this all just a subjective matter of preference? Personally I would like to choose the best file types on the first try. I don't have time to compare the same videos with different file types to choose which ones are better quality.

I actually have both a Quest 2 and an HP Reverb G2. While I don't hate the G2, I am disappointed that I spent almost twice the money on a device that seems either equal to or even inferior to the Quest 2 in most of the ways I use the device. And with the Quest 2's ability to connect to your PC via a cable or Virtual Desktop, it seems to do everything the Reverb G2 can do with the added benefit of also being able to do it cordless/wireless.

That being said, I'm a bit of a novice to VR and am wondering if perhaps I'm missing something in the G2's settings that would change things for graphics. So far I cannot tell much of a difference between watching the 8K videos on my Quest 2 vs. my HP Reverb G2. Is there a setting I am missing either in the G2 settings or the SLR app that would enhance the picture of 8K videos on the G2? Or is the Quest 2 just so good that there isn't much difference. @Lonkilan and @doublevr , do you know?

And you may say I'm crazy, but I swear that the best visuals I have ever gotten on a VR video, including with the SLR site, is with my GearVR and a Samsung Galaxy S10+. But as all around devices, the Quest 2 and G2 are both far far superior of course.
