We’re creating flat versions of our VR180 library, so you can watch SLR videos comfortably on smartphones, desktops and big-screen TVs with AirPlay and Chromecast (to be released soon)
The idea is to reframe VR footage into a regular video format, ideally keeping 60 FPS. Let me know the best conversion methods and tools. The biggest thing to get fish-eye to flat framing right: how much of the scene to show, how to keep it looking natural, and when the view should follow the action.
We’d start with new releases and use the flat version by default on the website, with a clear option to watch in VR. We also want this to work well for casting scripted videos to your TV.
If you’ve converted VR180 footage to flat yourself, share what worked, what looked wrong, and which tools you’d recommend.
