But seriously do you think the player shouldn't play videos from the local network shares?
Don't you store your videos on your laptop or pc or nas?
I believe every player has this functionality

Exactly, it's so obvious everyone will just use competitors that support it, Skybox, Playa App, Heresphere and others

Again, mistakes of the past and lessons learned, i'm not naive and i totally understand what SLR are trying to achieve similar to Sony, but luckily for now we have too many other options available to us and they are just gonna damage their user base and player interaction 🙂

Again to compare Netflix support to DNLA server access is clutching at very thin straws and almost a child like comparison but it did raise a chuckle, thank you for proving a point 🙂

I'm grateful for all development. But sometimes I'm a bit confused, isnt the developer on your payroll? Because honestly stuff like this is pretty trivial to add, I think I had DLNA support for my own Galaxy XR app in just a few hours. Also Galaxy XR support itself, like I indicated, should only be a few hours work. Just wondering why things like this aren't being done like today and finished for tomorrow. Or maybe there are other features he's working on that we don't know about and have more priority? Especially in this age where AI is such a great help for development. Development time has gone down like incredible amounts. And industry leaders are prediciting that AI can develop better than any human being as of next year. But honestly for a lot of tasks I'm not even coding myself anymore, Claude can code stuff better than I do already in many instances. I just tell it what to do and it writes the code for me. It's frikking incredible already.. Actually I think if you just tell Claude to add DLNA support, it can code the whole thing in a minute. And contrary to earlier models, it's damn good code too!

So yeah, not sure what's going on with your developer.
