When you have users stream videos via your own app like SLR and other websites, this gives access to an insanely rich amount of data:
Which videos users watch, what timestamps, which bits they rewatch, the video quality, studio, everything useful
I don't know if they can track the direction your head is pointed to on the screen, that would provide even further detail (but a little creepy regarding data gathering)
Also things like: how users browse or search for videos, how well the "For You" tabs work, what videos/tags people are searching for that have no results, what timezones / countries users are from - what time they have a wank (when to release videos for best reception)
This is incredibly high value data and metrics
It would be one thing to have all of this data for your own uploads, but SLR and other websites get to gather this info from all videos uploaded on their platform. So if you have a competitor that has very popular videos, they can literally see why and learn from it
So it's no surprise SLR want to reduce the number of downloads in order to keep people streaming to collect that rich rich data π
I'd imagine they have some person(s) trying to figure some stuff out, as they are spending a lot of time and money making videos - why not try and increase the success rate
Who knows if they go into such niches like nipslips tho lol
I'm surprised they don't have some kind of quick survey for their videos to see what people like/dislike/want to see. Gathering that info from the forums is very biased, not many people come here and some people are the vocal minority giving skewed results
Maybe they could look into some kind of data gathering survey to fill in the gaps. Either free or small rewards like video/script purchase credits or perhaps they don't even require more info than they already have access to π€·ββοΈ
