This is pretty simple:
When two people french kiss, they don't kiss "straight on", because their noses get in the way of each other - its physically not possible. Usually you tilt your heads to opposite sides - this allows you both to get your tongues as deep as possible. This is important when it comes to realism and immersion in VR.
Because VR cameras don't have a nose, when actors act out french kissing, they generally don't think to tilt their heads, because they don't have to... since theres nothing in the way. I can understand why this is something that someone new to VR might miss, but experienced directors should know about this and remind the actors what to do.
Its just plain wrong to do POV french kissing scenes where the girl keeps her head straight - it wouldn't be so bad if you could tilt your own head in VR, but it just doesn't handle that very well and messes up the image. VR is not a new thing anymore and this is something that should have been learnt a long time ago by most studios, but it hasn't.
SOME girls like Vanna Bardot sometimes do it properly, and sometimes it just happens by accident because the girl is already at that angle for whatever reason. And when they do, it is WAY sexier because it feels much more realistic. Because that is exactly what you see when you french kiss for real.
I know it sound like it can't possibly make that much difference, but it does. Even though consciously you might not notice its wrong, your subconscious brain will, and it breaks the illusion. What you will experience is its not quite as exciting or sexy as it should be - and it's because its WEIRD and you brain knows it - it knows that what is happening can't really work, physically. It only works because the VR camera doesn't have a nose.
If you think I'm wrong, watch some other POV kissing, then watch this video at time 4:15 and compare:

Some points to people who will disagree with me:
- Try french kissing a girl straight on. Just try it and see how stupid it is. You would never ever do it.
- I'm not saying every single POV kissing scene has to have head tilting. It depends what kind of kiss or lick it is. Its mostly french kissing that needs the sideways tilt. Pouted lips kissing usually needs a slight tilt back, again to avoid the nose. Things like face licking are obviously different and more freestyle.
- I like POV kissing obviously and I guess to some people it might be a bit obsessive to make a post like this, but I just wanted to get all the info down so I don't have to go into it again.
I have been waiting patiently for things to change but they just haven't. I think like I said before this is one of those things you have to experience, its not that obvious, its an easy thing to miss. But once you see the difference, it becomes obvious.
I just wanted to make this post and hopefully some actors and directors see it, and start making this change in their videos 🙂
