DeoVR Rift (Windows version) crashing on H265 videos

I´m trying to circumvent the Quest 3s hardware limitations in decoding 8K videos at 90 fps and tried the Windows version via Quest Link.
Initially it always reverted back to H264, and now that the HEVC extensions are installed, it crashes without error when trying to open any H265 video, local files and on SLR, regardless of the resolution and fps.

Tinkering with the Codec Tweak Tool, enabling and disabling hardware acceleration, installing LAV filters doesn´t work either. DirectShow and alternative playback in DeoVR also don´t work.

I´m running Windows 10 22H2 (19045.7417) with an i7-12700 / 32 GB RAM / RX 9070 XT and the latest drivers (26.6.4).
DeoVR Rift is 15.7.3813.

Anyone got any idea what could cause this?

We don't recommend using Meta Quest headsets with a Link cable, as it turns them into PCVR.
The same limitation comes from the desktop GPU decoder, which is capped at 8K 60 fps.
We also don't provide support for local playback.

Decoding 8k at 90 fps works fine though with hardware acceleration in mpv.net or chromium.
Tested with this video in 8k Max Resolution and Studio Master:

It´s just that for some reason the HEVC extension that DeoVR requires isn´t working.
