SLR Originals will now be delivered in 10-bit color depth, and we are enabling 10-bit transcoding support across other studios.
What changes technically:
• Higher color precision - 10-bit provides 1024 levels per channel vs 256 in 8-bit
• Reduced banding - smoother gradients in low-contrast areas (skin, sky, plain walls, etc.)
• Improved compression stability - more accurate quantization reduces visible artifacts at similar bitrates
In practice, this means smoother tonal transitions, cleaner gradients, and more stable color reproduction, especially in high-detail, immersive scenes and challenging lighting conditions.
Content identification
10-bit content will now be labeled with dedicated tags so you can quickly identify 10Bit releases.
