1) It appears that green-screen full-body passthrough OUTPERFORMS running on-device segmentation models.

While green screen is a cheap setup in long run, i guess the business still pays the cost of EACH male talent dressing up in a SEPARATE "special-suit"? Just curious haha. (you cant share vacsuits between different talents due to hygiene issues)

Recent advances appear in models like Meta's SAMv3. They perform video-object segmentation, so they can retain temporal context problem via "streaming memories". No more flickers.

3) SLR introduced subtitles for most of the "jav" content. This relies on running speech to text model like OpenAI's whisper. This craps out in "multi-group scenes" like (https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/dreamteam-26815), when MULTIPLE girls are speaking into the "SAME microphone".

We need the ability to: 1) pinpoint which girl is saying EXACTLY WHAT even if MULTIPLE girls are speaking at the same time, in different languages. Turns out, this is known as "audio source separation", https://ai.meta.com/blog/sam-audio/ , which has now become a reality. The biggest hits on SLR are "group scenes". Time to bring this tech in VR porn.

4) If a user gazes at a "particular" girl in the headset, her sounds will be filtered over "all the other girls", and result in seamless transitions. Your gaze in 3D is already tracked in apps like Heresphere. (i know @doublevr doesn't like the guy lol )

5) Interfacing with touch haptic devices: We now need sensation of "touch" on human body. For eg, devices like (https://www.bhaptics.com/tactsuit/tactsuit-pro/) allow a user to wear a vest, which simulates touch via redirecting output to a "vibrating motor". There are 24 vibrating motors spread all over your body.

Now, Imagine a girl running her hands over you in a massage scene, and you wanna feel every movement. You would need a "script" to "route" the sensation of touch to correct motor in a vest. There are two ways to solve it:
use spatial audio: which tells which speaker the girl is closer to (left/right) and how far from the speaker (based on volume). A second solution is to track her hands, and feet (in footjob), and give that output to the motors.

Right now this idea is used in gaming. This Tech will get cheaper. Time to build the software stack FOR VR PORN.

5) 6DOF scripts: Devices like OSR need 6 dof scripts. Right now, there is a script generation tool which generates only one axis (the stroke direction). With recent work (VGGT), it is possible to "infer" 3d orientation of a dick in real-time. Six axis script will improve experience. However, not everyone has Do it yourself OSR.

6) Handy, Kiroo Keon have an issue: they are strokers and NOT MILKERS.

After "one orgasm", dick gets soft. And you cannot use handy with a soft dick (trust me, i tried, a lot!!). And men need multiple orgasms. The solution out of this hiccup are "MILKERS" like Nimblestroker (https://shop.exploratorydevices.com/) (which allow interfacing via connectivity modules). Need support for those devices too.

10) The market not yet captured: those who don't yet believe in VR. But, Brazzers /Naughty America are dead in the grave they dug for themselves. Only time has to pass before their own users pivot.

-For the 6dof scripts check Eroscripts if you haven’t yet, quite a few made by people
-Regarding suits/strokers and the edging mode: this is just way too much work to have a wank, I like the handy but barely use it anymore once the novelty wore off. Definitely not going to make it even more of a hassle, I think most would agree here. You like the thought of having a suit on? Like really?
-not sure why you mentioned Naughty America as they have decent VR vids and were one of the first to start. They’ve been at it for a decade and have some big names from the past that are featured (nearly) nowhere else.
-audio focus: they need to record the audio in a way where it isn’t overwhelming without focussing on any girl in particular. This is my big gripe with the volleyball harem, the girls are all screaming through each other constantly, they’ve learned from this though. As an addition I guess it’d be nice but sounds very complex. Heresphere uses headtracking and can only seperate audio when you’re viewing multiple (flat) vids at once. Filtering out parts of an audio track based on what’s happening in the vid is a whole other thing entirely.

Insightful post! It seems to me a huge issue is marketing. I’ve told several people about VR porn and they had no idea it existed or how great it really is. I suppose back in the Betamax days, you could have a friend over, pop in a videotape and share the wonders of porn at home. Not sure I’d want to have someone put on my VR headset nor would I want to put on someone’s vr headset who I know have been jerking off with it haha.

I tell my friends with wives to get a headset for workouts like Supernatural and then also use for porn. Not sure if they have cause it’s still tough to talk about.

I use a quest 3 but I’d buy an AVP if I could demo SLR but where and how can I do that?

I wish I had the answer but I know VR Porn would take off like wildfire if men were able to demo.

Personally for me it's just the basics that i look forward to - Life like resolutions and framerates without having a black border around the edges as that kills immersion. Also a massive improvement to passthrough resolutions is needed with better blending / feathering options.

I would like some sort of sound altering / pitch shifting for voices

Also, something that is definitely needed is some sort of quality control from studios or maybe even some sort of 'VR Technical Sandards' with a guarantee of quality - Some studios really need to check their work before release and if users say the alignment has been wrong for many months, then maybe they have a point.

But in general, although i whinge alot it's all going in the right direction and i only whinge to hopefully improve things - The Studios just need to listen carefully to feedback from me in particular 🙂

On point 10, I think it helps to look at how most of the world actually consumes porn. It’s discreet, hidden, and usually rushed. People want the least possible friction. Smartphones solved this perfectly, you already use them for everything, and if someone glances over your shoulder you’re “scrolling social media,” not necessarily watching porn.

VR is kind of the opposite experience. Bulky headsets, large downloads, setting up XBVR, learning Heresphere, controllers, passthrough configs, strokers etc. If someone sees you having a headset, it’s pretty obvious what it’s for. It’s harder to hide, leaves more “evidence,” and that’s a big mental barrier for most people.

That said, VR porn is still growing, which says a lot. And now we’re seeing smart glasses like XREAL, VITURE supporting sbs vr content coming to market. If those eventually replace smartphones, a lot of the friction disappears overnight, atleast on the hardware end. At that point, the remaining holdouts will probably pivot naturally.

While AI is a very touchy subject, I think that it has a place with VR porn.

To be able to generate a custom scenario, with a realistic (or not) looking model, voice generation, PT and Scripting, it would be an incredibly powerful driver for VR + Haptic sex.

Distant future would be to incorporate speech - so you could talk to your scene, in order to change it.

Basically like a new version of the Interactive videos we have today or "Life Selector" but more immersive, and less on rails.

The ability to hear your name spoken by the model would be a huge leap forward. And to echo the comments from the post above, being able to interact with the scene/model through voice would be a true game changer.
