  • Hands on Quest2 VR porn - It works!

Setup gave me a hell of a time. Oculus app wasn't working until I logged out. It was mandatory to link my FB account to make it work. I ended up creating new Oculus acc since I couldn't realise how to use the old we used by a team.

Once setup simply install DeoVR app from Oculus Home and enter sexlikereal.com in the browser and enjoy. You can sideload it as a separate app from https://www.sexlikereal.com/app#oculus

The screen quality is much better compared to Q1. Even 4K videos are cool. 6K are fantastic!!! Also heads up to Czech VR. Their 8K is great. The only 8K I can assure. The rest are "6K"-"7K". The difference is clearly seen on new Quest.

We are adding 6K and 90FPS support in SLR app for Q2 tomorrow. Right now you can watch those with viewport. Also we are checking if we can get any advantage of 10bit color. The camera shoots in 10 bit, Q2 can play in 10 bit, the only problem is there's no headset with 10bit HDR display. Let's see how it goes.

The screen quality is much better. Even 4K videos are cool. 6K are fantastic!!! That's a killer headset!!!

All the features and controllers work the same as Quest 1, video quality got better.

Only FOV kinda sucks. It's a miss they didn't go to expand it.

I'm a new quest user. Received and setup my quest 2 today and tried a couple of videos from 2 studios. They were uncomfortable for my eyes especially in scenes where the subject was very close (as they are in almost all POV content). For games in the quest, the middle IPV setting seems fine and don't have any such issues.

Messing with the focus settings within the DeoVR player helped a little but had to keep changing the settings for close up vs further away - even though it was the same video. Obviously, the rig/setup/equipment used by the content providers play a part but I found the experience distracting and couldn't enjoy it.

I really want to see an example of an optimal experience before I become a member - can you please point me to a video that works really well with the Quest 2. Additionally, can you tell me what i should look out for in terms of setup/rig/specs of the videos? Really feels like im cross-eyed during close up scenes, is this normal? what might i be doing wrong?

Thanks

nobutyea Try SLR originals please. We will add 6K support really soon, video will be really clear.
As for seeing double, truth is when something gets real close in real life too we start seeing double. We have a long term solution for that, but it would require some extensive development. I might have it planned for the next year.

@doublevr thanks for your insight and review. Out of curiosity, you compared it to quest 1 but what about Go? I heard Go has better optics and image quality than Quest 1.

I've never used Quest 1 but I have a Go.

I'm also curious to know how people's opinions here in the included headstrap. I've heard bad things.

I've had no issues with my Go headstrap. Is the Quest headstrap worse?

Is the elite headstrap really that much better?

I wouldn't want to drop extra money for the elite headstrap if it doesn't add a lot of value. I guess I can see how the headstrap with battery does though.

Undecided on my Quest 2 being better than the Quest 1 as of yet. Strange field of view and less adjustability. I guess my expectations for VR video are too high at this point. Still somewhat blurry. Maybe not as much?
Also, that Facebook pop up mentioning no porn is a little concerning. Anyone have some insight on unknown sources and are they going to track our content and apps?

        Protip!
Install FB on the same phone you have the Oculus app.
No hassle with merging accounts, no need to wait for SMS code or fill out credit card info.

It starts up a lot faster than the original Quest but I don't find it as comfortable. The original strap is awful but the Elite straps are nowhere to be found at the moment. It's difficult for me to find a comfortable position that is also optimal for the lenses. I think I will have to change the face mask too as the pressure points at the top of my nose are very uncomfortable. Running with the link cable to the PC is a lot better than I thought, but not the best option for SLR. The stand alove version on the Q2 gives a lot higher resolution choice (though I was getting the odd pause for a few seconds), than the offering on PC even though it is a fairly high end machine.

Still pleased with it but will be more so when all the little comfort quirks are ironed out.

What the situation with Facebook do you have to upload a photograph of yourself on to your Facebook page?, I have a Facebook account but I dont have any photos of myself, I read you cant use the Oculus quest 2 unless you have photo of yourself on your Facebook.

I have purchased a Q2 and here are my thoughts thus far:

I did create another FB account and so far no issues. I made sure to double check the privacy settings on the FB account and within Q2.

I used the regular strap. It's not good at all (much much worse than the Go strap). I bought the elite strap shortly after and experience is 10x better.

Not only is it more comfortable, but it positions the headset in a way that the weight of it is not causing it to lean forward. The image is much clearer too since it's evenly positioned on my face.

Personally this should have been included with the unit. I would have rather them charge me more outright and have it bundled.

Definitely better picture and playback quality.

DeoVR is available on the store.

Haven't tried side loading SLR app.

Has anyone had any issues doing that?

            Nopatience

What FB pop up are you referring to? I haven't seen anything like that, but that would have me concerned too.

Nopatience Agreed... I think the loss of deep blacks due to the new LCD really diminishes the visual performance. Also, there's a lot of "noise" in the colors that I didn't encounter on the Q1. By that I mean a solidly red wall in the background looks like the pixels are continuously shimmering, shifting, or changing slightly, as well as more faded-out. I find it distracting and sort of artificial- and cheap-looking. There's debate about whether the higher res display (including less but still evident screen door effect) and all the other upgrades compensate for that, but I'm not convinced. 50% more pixels don't improve the experience if the pixels are of lower quality overall. I might actually prefer the Q1 and return the Q2, but not decided yet.

keylox23 I read that Facebook dont like inactivity, what worries me if your friends and public can see what apps you have visited on Facebook when using the Quest 2.

Redhulk50 You can delete them, unless that changed, but there are no pictures on my FB.

Yes, if you are used to LED display, LCD will look very washed. try increasing saturation 1 (maybe 2) notches during video playback. It's not gonna get rid of it, but you -might- prefer it.

My FB has been inactive for years (not deactivated, just me not using it)

Battery life, while watching video isn't bad, even charges up if plugged into the charger that comes with it. Connected to PC it will depend on your motherboard/port. If you have a "red" usbc port it technically should get extra charging power. You could also use a wall-powered USB hub I guess, preferably with a short cord. (Not personally tested)

I've also noticed the orientation of the official Link-cable can matter. If you have issues try flipping the plug connected to your PC. I'm more inclined to blame this on my motherboard. The USBc connector is sharing it's port with a USBa, which can't switch polarity.

People who don't have a USBc port can use a USBc to a adapter. Tried it myself, on a 3.0 port and worked fine. Just make sure it's USB3. Try to get a cordless one, or if you must, as short cord you can.

This is the exact one I tested with:
