Good eye contact isn't an accident. Idea for improvements.

I know SLR has a visual reminder telling the girls where to look. But many times she lets her eyes wander away. I imagine she's still looking generally in the center point, but when I watch it in my headset, it feels like she's looking at my ear. So, we can observe how sensitive it is. How important it is for her to be focused on that center point and stay disciplined. I can imagine after a long shoot toward the end sometimes she doesn't care anymore. But for the most part the girls DO care and would want to learn more about this. You know? When they are super close to the rig it kind of doesn't matter. Neither does it when they are far away. But that sweet spot, 18 inches away or so, it's key. I had the idea of installing 2d camera in the very center. In between the lenses. Exactly in the center. You can sell that copy and make more money. The girl will stare at the center better. And the 2d version, she will be looking directly into our eyes instead of off to the side. You know? Because 2d content that is taken from LR180 content is flawed because she is not looking at the viewer. This would fix that. And fix several other issues. Any reply is welcomed. I'm trying to bring attention to this. I believe this is a small issue that goes unnoticed by most and never complained about yet if fixed would create a large improvement to overall quality.

GREGORIO28 That's a great point. It does lessen the experience a bit when it comes to intimacy. I find myself avoiding seeing her face because it's kind of off-putting when someone's talking to you closely and just looking towards your ear. Sometimes I close one eye so it looks like she's at least looking at my other eye that's open, but I can't watch a whole scene that way.

GREGORIO28 A few things to consider:

2D POV sucks compared to VR POV and few people with a VR headset will watch it
A 2D camera is probably not going to fit in front of the VR camera body and between the VR lenses. Even if one did fit, it would be visible in the VR footage because the VR camera captures a 190° field of view and the lenses can see each other.
As a consequence of above point, the 2D camera would need to be positioned either above or below the VR camera, and further backwards to stay out of the VR field of view. If the girl is then looking at the 2D camera, you're again going to run into the very problem that you're trying to solve.
There are sites that already capture 2D and VR at the same time (e.g. WetVR) and ruins the VR footage

dolphin7559 aren't a lot of porns shot with cell phone cameras? Seems like those are flat and small and could be embedded into the rig in the exact center in between the left and right lenses. And to your first point: I actually like 2d pov porn. I still watch it even though I own a VR headset with like 7 lifetime memberships to various sites. So, I think my idea is good and your points are just one man's thoughts.

I'm just starting to explore 2d porn here and I quite like it for a change of pace. I also float my mirrored desktop over the '3d' videos with a mini-pornwall of 2 flatscreen videos, and with the 2d immersive videos I'm in heaven.

I'll switch back to 'proper' 3d videos halfway through a session, and it's while watching these videos that eye contact is so important. I get taken out of the immersion when the model is obviously looking at a director or something, or not quite maintaining eye contact. I previously commented on another thread that maybe they could edit the videos to it goes dark briefly (akin to an eye blink) so I don't have to see the model's eyes shift off screen.
