Hah, hate to break it to you, but we've been screaming about this stuff for a decade now. Studios don't listen.
Just skim through any modern scene. We're lucky if 10% of the total runtime is dedicated to tightly framed shots (closeup mish, kissing, etc...). If you understood the strengths/weaknesses of VR, those ratios would be flipped.
As you correctly pointed out, the people directing VR porn today have a traditional 2d porn mindset, so that's how they film (as if it's just another flat 2d POV scene, likely viewed on a phone).
Hopefully if Japan finally abolishes their archaic censorship laws, it will force western studios to get their shit together (Japan is just so far ahead of the west when it comes to VR porn, it's not even funny).
