App for Samsung XR headset?

blaze466 that's no doubt! I was super surprised how abysmal hand tracking is, especially from Samsung... everything else Samsung thst I own is phenomenal and has a polished feel to the UI.

Now I was surprised how well the eye tracking works punching in passwords and such... but idk how well eye tracking would integrate into VR porn for obvious reasons, lol.

Im still really trying to hold my judgment until we have a deovr app for this thing though.

Edit: I just bought an android generic VR controller off Amazon for 10 bucks. Should be here tomorrow, I'll see if I can get it to hook up. Droid is usually pretty good about stuff like that 🤞

harigeharry Actually I will stick to this "Studio creative" mod that I linked above. It's pretty damn awesome, once you have adjusted it precisely, the original plastic barely touches your forehead while the weight now is on that soft foam from that strap, really nice!

For passthrough I'm using the headset without the flaps, so light leaks in BUT in passthrough this actually kinda adds to the experience, cause you'll see your room on the sides, just like you would with a wider FoV. Also there's no weight pressing onto your cheeks which is nice too.

Yeah I'm really starting to dig this headset, even though I agree to your guys, Samsung still has a lot to improve. I think though number one improvement right now would be to that web player, for SLR to find a way not to constantly have the menu pop up. If that's fixed, I'm happy.

Reeses Definitely interested to find out if that controller works. Btw, I downloaded virtual desktop and deovr does load, but I can’t use hand tracking to activate any videos. I’m going to mess around with it this weekend to see if I can bind my PS5 controller to it. ChatGPT said it can.

VrBangers newer stuff is insane on this headset. Check out the newest one from Jesse Pony. It is so close to real life visuals. If you have a sub to VrPorn, you can download it, which is the best visuals I’ve seen on a headset by a lot.

blaze466 Yeah I used to download SLR originals in HBR, the quality is noticeably way better on a high end headset than the streams. But how to play it on the XR? I tried the photo/video player that came with the headset, someone suggested that earlier, it does play but it projects it all wrong. My take is that it doesnt support fish eye, but havent tried non fish eye yet. Damn we really need DeoVR standalone.

blaze466 ALVR works too, if you use the nightly releases. However there's no hand tracking yet. So you also need controllers there. Are you sure PS5 controllers bind? I googled it my conclusion was that I read that only Samsung controllers are supported. HOWEVER, if that's true, the headset is completely open (even unlocked bootloader) so someone could just write his own drivers, which eventually will happen. But if you're right and it should work already, then that would be amazing.

dolphin7559 Of course Heresphere is better. But it's going to take a while to port that to XR, since it's not written in Unity. DeoVR is written in Unity so theoretically the conversion should not be that much work.

I'm not expecting Heresphere to appear on the XR within the year.

harigeharry SLR Originals don’t play correctly when downloaded. I downloaded the VrBangers videos from their sister site, VrPorn. It is the best quality I’ve seen by far. Their streaming is really good too though.

The PS5 controller did indeed bind to Steam. However, the video begins to get very twitchy after about 20-30 seconds. I think this is because I can’t manually force my headset or PC to 5 MhZ. But, I was able to get into DeoVR and get it to work. The video looks great, as we knew it would. I ordered a new router that will allow me to do specify channels and freqs. It arrives Monday. For the controller, it works fairly well. I used a usb c cable linked to my PC. The only thing is I had to use it under a blanket because the app seems to treat it like you have multiple controllers. It’s weird, but works fine under the blanket. I’m hoping the new router fixes the jumpiness issue, which will make the entire experience way better.

blaze466 ok so I didn't completely waste my $10 on the amazon generic "droid" phone VR controller.

It does hook up. But it doesn't have 6dof tracking.

So it works like a mouse off the joy stick vs point and shoot like I figured.

Thats my bad, I didn't read enough of the item description.

I just ordered a Samsung brand gear vr controller from Samsung on Amazon, supposed to do motion. Was 14 bucks

blaze466 what did you watch it on? So far, I have only had luck with Samsung Gallery and Virtual Desktop (using local files) for playing downloads.

Reeses I hooked up my Xbox controller. It works for general system screen navigation, but it didn't recognize it in the SLR hub

VRContentMan ahhh ok. I Couldn't get on /hub earlier, it kept booting me out on my XR, even just hand controls. So I couldn't test if the cheesey "mouse" controller worked in there

So the gear VR controller did absolutely nothing on the XR. Paired, but didn't even work as a mouse like the generic controller did.
