Master files and av1 are coming to New.SLR

Is the only way to get 120fps through the master file? Or can I download the max resolution file and it will always be 120fps? Thanks

not_admin There is no way to get 120 fps, all files are 60 fps. There used to be a few 6K max res files at 90 and 120 fps but these are gone. Q3 cannot play 8K 120 fps anyway.

Yeah I think 120 fps would be dead in the water, not much headsets would be able to play that at the 8k. 90 hz, maybe. I doubt it would make much of a visual upgrade though. It would be interesting to try though.

doublevr That would be nice. But it seems Qualcom is not close to releasing a successor to the XR2 Gen 2, at least I haven't read any news. And the current chipset is just way too weak. Maybe in 2027

doublevr yeah that apple chipset is super powerful indeed, it's quite a step up from the Galaxy XR's headset's chipset. Which in turn had substantially better display panels. So hopefully Qualcom will hurry up and release a new chipset that future android XR headsets can use.

Actually @doublevr it's quite insane how much faster Apple's chipset is. From my experience it's already super easy to tell the difference between the two chipsets, my AVP with M2 already feels way snappier than the Galaxy XR, which doesnt even render its desktop at full resolution because of the slower hardware. But i just looked up benchmark results, the M5 scores actually 17,862 points in multicore Geekbench vs 2,453 for the Qualcomm. Damn these guys need to step up their game! It seems display panel development is currently going faster than Qualcomm can keep up.

Are "Studio Master" files worth it? I have Quest 3, but am already pretty happy with the 8K Max Resolution.

Is there also any difference between the 8K Max Resolution and 8K version thats found when streaming?

not_admin I think whether it's 'worth it' on Q3 is very subjective, you need to try for yourself. Video quality will not be 5 times better on Q3 just because of 5 times more data, it will probably appear a little better at best. Noticeable, but not a game changer. On other headsets with better displays, the difference in quality between the two versions seems to be more pronounced.

I'm quite sure 8K Max that you can download is the same as 8K for streaming, at least they will look the same (when both are played in DeoVR).
